Cruising around the world! (ie. Europe)

Yay, we're married! I'm typing from the pool deck while we're docked in Italy. We just came back from a trip to Pisa, where (yes) we saw the leaning tower. You wouldn't believe how many unimaginative, conformist tourists were taking those lame "Look, I'm holding up the tower" photos. We had to wait in line to take ours.

The cruise has been good so far. We were so excited about the food (room service 24/7!), but we were horribly surprised to find out the quality of the restaurants onboard. We had a cheesecake that looked (and tasted) like it was squeezed out of a tube onto the crust, some old crusty hamburgers, and "hot wings" that were sweet/teriyaki without a hint of hot sauce. But thankfully, we've found some good things on board, and some of later meals were decent. There's a steakhouse restaurant on board that's actually quite good, so we've enjoyed that a lot.

We've also discovered that we're not very touristy people, so we're not as into the whole "look at old important things" deal here. It's still enjoyable, thankfully. All in all, this has been a good trip, with some disappointments but still good. I think next time we might choose something a little closer to home, with more of a focus on the younger crowd (under 40).

And while we're really looking forward to getting back home, I know we're going to really enjoy the next few days.

Installing a Mishimoto Radiator on a 2G DSM

My stock radiator started to go bad (massive corrosion), so I started looking for replacements. I could have bought a generic radiator for 200-300 at my local store, or an OEM for ~500 online. I decided to go with a Mishimoto aluminum radiator. It looked good, had some positive reviews, and was reasonably priced. I also got 2 12" Mishimoto slimline fans to go with it.

My first impressions were that the package was good, and the radiator looked very solid and well built. The fans were all-plastic, including the blades, but were stiff enough.

I didn't install the slimline fans since they didn't come with the mounting hardware (why??). I bought those separately ($10 on ebay), basically just a few zip ties, springs, and pads. I'll post up that part when I get the parts in. For now, the radiator is working well and keeping the temps low. I'll have to keep an eye on the drain plug to see if it's leaking any. But for now, everything looks good.

Big news everyone!

So I have big news everyone. Lauren and I are engaged! I've taken my sweet time posting it here, and if you stalk me on facebook (or if you live within a 50 mile radius) you've probably already heard, congratulated me, and told 4-5 people that don't even know me.

It's a crazy-big decision, one that I stressed over for quite a while... and now I have complete peace about it. I know what I want! That's rarity for me, and I revel in it. So now it's just the small matter of planning a wedding. My original BBQ/pot-luck outdoor fun-fest idea has been scrapped, but hopefully I can salvage some of the more fun aspects of my idea for our reception.

Yes, not "my reception" but "our reception". I have to remember to use first person plural pronouns now.
